I went to line Allowed Hosts and it had the LMS server IP so I changed
it to my laptops IP, that allowed me to get access to the LMS server.
Then I went to the settings GUI and changed the Block In
Yep - that's how it works. I added my laptop's IP address to the
allowedhosts setting, and I could still get in even when incoming
connections were blocked. Not so without the laptop's address in
allowedhosts.

It seems to be filterHosts. I just tried it on a machine I could easily
remake from a pCP image if necessary. Before blocking incoming
connections it had:
filterHosts: 0
And afterwards it had:
filterHosts: 1

Yesterday before posting I went through a bunch of files and the only
one that made sense to hold that setting was the server preferences
file.
I can not find a line in that file relevant to switch on/off that
setting unless is called something different.
I just don't want to reinstall the serv
and you probably have to shutdown LMS before you edit it otherwise LMS
might rewrite it with what it thinks it should be when it is
subsequently stopped.
