I know nothing about Unix or Linux, and I was able to set up
Picoreplayer running LMS on a Pi 3B+ in an hour or two. I had one
problem getting Samba to work, but it was due to me not making sure the
syntax on two fields was not exactly the name; one field had an
upper-case letter while the

The whole concept of connecting rpi audio out to SB touch makes no sense
whatsoever.. What is this all about?
3x Squeezebox Touch, 4x Squeezebox Radio, Squeezelite (RPi 3B with
HiFiBerry DAC+Pro on OSMC), Material Skin Apk, Squeeze Commander,
Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 with Material
Doh!! I apologize for any confusion (and for my own - of course, all of the
outputs on the Touch are for connections to external sources like a stereo
system just like on my old, lamented, Squeezebox Classic).

I Googled for a Squeezebox Touch manual before I replied. The one I found
at Logitech shows it does have RCA inputs:

Yes! I just did a setup from scratch for my brother, and doing it from
memory took about 15 minutes, not counting letting LMS scan the music on
the attached USB drive. The detailed instructions from piCorePlayer are
excellent
I also agree that raspberry pi with pcp is way to go. It's actually very
simple and guys from pCp made it almost plug and play. Also it comes
with abundance of tutorials and other users support on forums.
Windows machine for LMS seems like terrible idea to me. Altough it will
also work it
I think the shortage is everywhere. But, you don't necessarily need the
latest and greatest. I run one system on a 4, the other on a 3b+ and I
only really notice any difference during library scan and for me it's
insignificant.
Others can chime in, but I think you can actually run it on just
The Pi maybe a good option, I think I do understand it a bit better
now.
Thank you for the link Redrum.
I think that the killer on the Pi plan could be supply, or lack of it.
Not a lot of stock in Australia. I shall keep digging.
Nice solution, though.
I shall put my thinking cap on. I do

What do you mean by long term solution ?
Windows 10 support ends in Oct 2025
Will you get a free upgrade to

You can use a 1/8" jack
to RCA audio cable to get from the RPi to the Touch's RCA inputs.

The Touch doesn't have rca inputs
David ... that's where piCorePlayer really shines. You can use a 1/8" jack
to RCA audio cable to get from the RPi to the Touch's RCA inputs. That gets
you going (you're initial cost is I'd think less than a Win10 system with
RPi & case). Later if you want you buy an add-on audio hardware card
Thank you for the replies.
I do agree that the RPi is a very tempting solution. The only reason
that I am not really considering the RPi route at the moment is that I
changed jobs two years ago, and unfortunately at the moment I am
exceedingly time poor with the new job, study and family.

If for whatever reason you don't want the RPi solution, your
Windows-based proposal will also work. As said above, you can still use
your NAS for storage.
Plenty of Windows mini-PCs on Amazon. Get one pre-installed with Win 10
Pro so you can access it via Remote Desktop. (Win 10 Home does not
Came here to say this.
I've been a RPi/piCorePlayer user for years. The RPi connects directly to
my ZyXel NAS for music files and the HiFiBerry DAC optical out to my stereo
receiver (they sit side by side next to my living room stereo & also next
to my DSL router).
PiCorePlayer is excellent &

I have been a Squeezebox touch user for well over a decade, and find
myself completely thwarted by my problems with the LMS on my Synology
DS418j.
So, I either sell my Touch and start from scratch again with something
like a PecanPi, or I find another solution for LMS.
So, this is my latest
