Ok, so I got rid of the offending directory and the scan/file addition
has succeeded. A question, is the design intent for the scan process to
exit upon failure to read a file or directory? Or is there possibly
another issue at play?

So I tried doing a chmod _R 777 on the music folder structure, which did
not help unfortunately but thanks anyways. Another issue I have been
experiencing after starting the LMS service is port 9000 communication
timeouts . Basically I can't access

You could also experiment with "Database Memory Config" setting
(Settings/Advanced/Performance).
Check the file permissions.
