We use squid 3.5.20 and a custom content filter to block undesirable
(tracking) sites (e.g., google-analytics.com).
I noticed recently that many sites no longer work properly. From
testing, I attribute this to our blocking of either google-analytics.com
or another google tracking URI

Have you also considered writing your own redirector/rewriter in a
language like python? There seems to be a nice starting example in the
"Squid Book", which I was able to get working along with extending it.

What is the best solution with squid for content filtering using lists
of domains that should be blocked?
We have been using squidGuard, and it works. However, we would like to
know if there is a better solution out there.
We also tried using squid as the content filter (acl ban lists)
