Firewalls use rules, just like squid does through its ACLs. There are
numerous firewalls out there to choose from. Basically you'd set up a rule,
for squid, that only allowed traffic from the squid box to your back end
webserver via the ports and traffic type that you needed. Ie: only open port

Hi
I use iptables on my Squid box and I by default I DENY everything and only
allow those services which I need (ssh/ntp/dns/etc.). When configuring a
rule for Squid as an accelerator, what port/range of ports do I need to
ACCEPT? Do I need to setup a rule to FORWARD all connections on port 8
Hi,
I am having real difficulty getting squid working with NTLM
authentication on FreeBSD 4.10 and Samba 3.0.4.
I have read the FAQ thoroughly at
http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-23.html#ss23.2 but still can't
seem to figure out whats wrong.
The only two things that stick out are that when
Hi folk,
When Squid does a DNS lookup, where does it save the cached entries? I know you can
specify how many entries you want it to save but where does it actually save it on
disk?
In fact how does squid do DNS lookups? Squid is listening on port 3128 and a DNS lookup
sends a udp packet on por
hello all.
This is only a small glitch, since my squid works fine and all for the most

time. For example, today I ran a PURGE using my client (squidclient)
command. Squid displayed

Hi,
I've noticed that my squid.pac file which is accessed by our
workstations at the office is not honored properly by internet explorer
and windows in general. Other browsers (mozilla, firefox etc) seem to
honor the directives. The pac file is almost straight out of the squid
documentation:
Hi,
Wondering if anyone is using djbdns (dnscache)... and if you know when the application
logs information about dns queries and where does it save the cached queries??
Any help is appreciated
thank you all

If you check the FAQ "10.25 I want to use local time zone in error
