I have successfully set up several Squid boxes on FreeBSD (4.x and 5.x).
They are running well with no problems to speak of at the time.
Searching through the mailing list archives does wonders for your
knowledge.

We are currently running Squid version 2.5 stable 3 with the following
compile options '--prefix=/usr/local/squid' '--enable-icmp'
'--enable-useragent-log' '--enable-referer-log' '--enable-wccpv2'
'--enable-linux-netfilter' '--enable-async-io' '--enable-ssl'

Search the archives for "block MSN", "block Yahoo", and similar. There have
been multiple successful methods posted to this list in the past.

These are the default settings,
Here is the issue: SNMP works from localhost, but not from anywhere else.

Hi all,
I have installed squid on a new machine. In access.log all i see is TCP_MISS/200
eventhough i have been to that site before which contains pictures. I suspect there is
something to do with my refresh_pattern. This is what I have currently:
refresh_pattern ^ftp: 144020%

Hi,
I have IP based authentication. Since I am on slow line I have
allowed only 5 users to access the net. But when they are not in office
other users use their IP and browse the net.
So I am trying squid to authenticate with simple ncsa_auth against a
htaccess file. But here I have a problem that
Hello,

I configured the squid.conf file:

Hello Peter,
The answer is "No". However, if you have time, you could re-compile
Squid and integrate the C code from the "ctime" program I sent you.
Then send the patched Squid build back into the Squid development. My

Indeed.
Pleaese create a perl script, say conv_date:
#! /usr/bin/perl -p
s/^\d+\.\d+/localtime $&/e;
Nowcat access.log | conv_date gives human readable time.

Is there not a configuration option in squid to make it human readable ?

You can use squidguard as a redirector, Viralator as
antivirus gateway and finally any antivuris supported
by Viralator, ClamAV is.
The cycle is simple, if you will compile things
according to installation instruction it should go
smoothly.
Squid needs a redirector to send request to an
