Hi all,
if i try to open a URL with cmd.exe in it (maybe a search in google for
cmd.exe) squid returns with
Read error (131) Connection reset by peer. everything else works
fine, also searching for test.exe.
Any help?

IF squid has not the object in cache, and client requested with If-*, squid
just passes the 304 response to client and does not cache it.

I have a new cisco pix 525 and i would like to setup squid /
squidguard for transparent filtering.
Should i place squid on the inside of the pix or the outside? or can
i create a 3rd interface specifically for filtering?

We have ours behind so the squid server gets the protection of the
firewall. We then use the firewall for transparent proxing of requests.
That is, we don't let anything go out port 80 unless the request is from
squid server. All traffic destined for port 80 is then redirected to

I've got a web site that dynamically generates results to a request.
This request will be highly utilized, but it needs to remain fairly
fresh. So, I want squid to cache it for only about 19 seconds.
However, squid won't cache it.

Hmm interesting, no I did not build squid with that option, I didn't
know about it. And along the same lines I didn't know about the
X-Accelerator-Vary header either so I am pretty sure its not being
used. I will investigate these options now. Thanks very much.

so, do your webservers set the X-Accelerator-Vary header?

I went thru 2 reverse proxy guides and 5 installations
and at least on this steps I get the URL request right
here are the steps that worked the best:
We are looking to use squid to handle *.jpg request.
We are using Squid Proxy server 2.5 stable 3 for windows NT/2000/= =3D XP
