Sir,
My firewall was blocking it.
Further, I wish I could automate this so that Squid under Cygwin

Kind hints please.

I think the following should work:
Built Squid with --enable-win32-service
Then install it as a service by using
/path/to/sbin/squid -i

I've got a small dillema. I've written an external Perl helper to return
"OK" or "ERR" dependant upon some regular expressions and/or domains
stored in an external Postgresql database.
What I've noticed is that for each URL/FQDN that is requested, squid
passes 'every' URL

Why you are not using the native Windows binary kits ?

I'm currently using Regexp ACL's to block "compose new mail" pages on a few
webmail systems (like
Hotmail).
Is there a way to instead limit the number of access to such pages?
For example, I'm currently blocking the regexp
"hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/compose". Could I instead
limit a user to a c

Single with asyncronous threads is optimal.
Or if your data source only processes one query at a time, single batch

After using these settings, squid is faster than before, but still
slower than Apache.
Apache only:

Document Path: /images20/header.jpg
Document Length:32157 bytes
Concurrency Level: 50
Time taken for tests: 28.86365 seconds

These numbers appear to indicate that Squid is nearly as fast as
Apache serving up static content, which is pretty much exactly what I
would expect.
The very high 'max' field suggests that the total is being skewed by
one very slow transaction, both for Apache (3 seconds) and then even
more so fo
My try to build Squid with --enable-win32-service failed under Cygwin

Still newbie questions,
How can I become a privileged user to start/stop squid?
some more details and links to read also needed.

I rechecked my firewall. Found that Squid.exe under Cygwin was allowed
access. I further allowd access to Squid.client. Then reconfiguring

Hi,
I have had a look through the threads and see that there are a few
threads on this particular issue but dealing with Unix based squid
