We want to shift from MS-ISA2000 proxy server to Linux Squid proxy server, so
we are building up this new proxy server.

Clear the cache, may be the source for your problem. I had this problem

Are you using /etc/resolve.conf or dns_nameservers in squid.conf
if /etc/resolve.conf used how may entry are there i mean the number of
name servers
Do the following
eg:
If you have 3
nameserver 10.0.0.1
nameserver 10.0.0.2
nameserver 10.0.0.3
comment out one by one and run

Hi All
Today I downloaded squid-3.1.0.2.tar.bz2 from
http://www.squid-cache.org/Download/ and then followed the following
instructions.
1. tar-jxvf squid-3.1.0.2.tar.bz2

3. ./configure --enable-storeio=aufs,coss,diskd,null,ufs --enable-snmp

Read the release notes for 3.x, you'll see that --enable-snmp is no
longer a valid configure option as it's built by default (use
--disable-snmp if you don't want it)
Once you configure, your next step is to 'make all', followed by 'make
install'

Hi Henrik,
Thanks for answer.
Your method doesn't help...
I do not restrict my customers anywhere on the network.
Traffic increases after I shift traffic through squid.
From router to Squid:
30 second input rate 198 bits/sec, 399 packets/sec
From Squid to router:
30 second output rate
Kindly advise what does the following means:
HTTP all service time
HTTP miss service time
HTTP near miss service time
HTTP hit service time
Thank you.

quick_abort_* and range-offset_* settings have nothing to do with access
restriction in the network.
They prevent squid from pre/post-fetching more

The negative_ttl was set to Defaults, which I've now set to 0.
