just opening the new root cert in a browser and accepting the
following warnings seemed to do the trick for me, however I haven't
double-checked.

I indeed managed to install the certificate.
I have other issues that for couple domains or IPS that has the same
shape of certificate from unknown reason the certificate is being
regenerated.
I just don't know yet why it's like that.
