Hi,
I regularly get squid hangs (around once a month or so). When I say hang, I
mean browsing through Squid runs very slowly and CPU utilisation is 100%.
I just restart squid to clear the hang.
I ran squid -k debug during the hang and I will past the output below.
Any ideas?

Hello!
We are using Squid Version 2.4.STABLE6 under Debian woody.
Once a day the Squid hangs, after restarting the service, squid still does
not work.
After rebooting the host, Squid works again. messages and syslog appear to
be ok.
Any idea of this erratic behaviour?

its me again.
i wrote the same problem a several days ago, now i have logs and still
dont have any idea how to solve problem.
my problem is: squid hangs up unexpectedly.
squid works fine for ex. two days or several hours. there is nothing in
syslog or messages, also i think in cache.log. i
I think the problem is with how logrotate restarts squid.
Please do the following.
Change logrotate restart procedure to killall -9 squid and
then /etc/rc.d/init.d/squid restart
Please inform back the results.
Maybe not a squid problem.

Thanks for your answer. I just checked the resolv.conf. It seems to me
normal, with the nameservers list of my ISP.
Could be another problem?

Thanks for your response. Nothing in cache.log or
access.log.
In previous mail itself i'm telling that, able to
start squid, it alos runs with 2 process.
But when i try to send request using squidclient
http://www.google.com, it hangs as
"HTTP request sent: waiting for response."
Not normal.
My guess is a DNS problem of some kind.

For squid, you dont' need to. Squid has a dns cache built into it (for
it's use alone).

That's right, squid's internal cache will handle this. You can check on
it with cache manage

No. Squid needs an external nameserver, it does not need an external
cache.

Using your ISP's DNS might be a better idea since it usually has
more cache than your local DNS,
