Squid 2.5 question:
In the case of external_acl_type, if the helper program returns
OK user=Bob
Will squid make use of this username? If yes, how?
Is it related to proxy_auth?
How bout in version 3? Making use of ext_user?

squid-2.5 or ext_user in squid-3.

Yes, provided you know some means of figuring out the username to return
to Squid.
