The Squid-2.5 ntlm_auth does not at all use Samba. It uses SMB to a NT

I (stupidly) assumed that the OP was referring to wb_ntlmauth. I had
forgotten about the other NTLM auth helpers that Squid includes that
don't use Samba. My mista
It puts the internals of NTLM in Samba's
capable hands and keeps squid out of the job of chasing Samba's changes.

The one shipped with Squid will not work with Samba 3, whereas the one
