Yes I know you don't maintain imapproxy but perhaps you could figure out what could be going on so I can go and tell imapproxy how to work better with your software =) (I have contacted the imapproxy list as well already).

I am using IMAPPROXY with SQUIRRELMAIL. My imap server is UW IMAPD.

My squirrelmail users are getting error messages such as:

> ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server. [Try refreshing this page]
> Query: THREAD REFERENCES ISO-8859-1 ALL

The query varies. Eg it could be:
> ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server. [Try refreshing this page]
>Query: CAPABILITY

When I change squirrelmail to connect direct to the Imap server (port 143) these errors no longer appear.
I have tested this on/off several times and as soon as I bypass imapproxy, webmail works fine.

Moreover - this does not appear to happen to EVERY user. What variation could there be browser-side that could cause this? Cookies? Security level?

MY GUESS
========
Could there be a case that squirrelmail sends a request to imapproxy which imapproxy does not recognise as a repeat? Thus it opens a NEW connection to imap - possibly to the same mailbox. My mailbox format is mbox (single user only). Thus the sencond connection smashes the first one out and imapproxy reports back to squirrelmail that the first connection has been disconnected. Squirrelmail takes this return error as the return error for the second connection and displays the message.
Howzat?

Daniel
