hope you will be able to help.

You have just clarified what I suspected. Being new, I struggle with
which program is causing what problem. Sorry, if I took to much of your
time. I certainly appreciate your help. Thank you. (Enjoy your weekend.)

My software install was done following "How to setup a mail server on a
GNU/Linux system" written by Ivar Abrahamson over at flurdy.com. I am
sure everyone on this list is familiar, as I see some references to it
in the archives.

Hi,
on my home server, running with Debian Etch, I have uw-imapd serving my
mail boxes through squirrelmail using an SSL connection. I wanted to
follow the recommendation of squirrelmail documentation, therefore I
installed imapproxy from Debian repositories and set it to use the port
143 to conn
OK, here's the inconclusive follow-up:
I checked for significant stuff in the relevant logs - nothing
I removed all plugins - no change
Regular http logins started to fail too!!! AARGH
I installed the latest version of SM to replaced the base version supplied
with CentOS - no change

Thanks for all the replies so far. I am doing some checking based on the
suggestions and will post back. One thing I've found in the http logs which
might be related is the following - mind you this message has only appeared
once while doing some late night testing so it may be spurious???

Hi.
Im a newby to linux, SM, Mysql, so, i need some help.
I installed Debian, apache, php, pear, mysql, SM 1.4.4, and im trying to configure SM to use MySql to store user addresses, and preferences.
What i did, was:
mysql> CREATE DATABASE squirrelmail;
mysql> use squirrelmail;
mysql> CREATE TAB
I am running RedHat 7.3, Php 4.1.2, Squirrelmail 1.2.11.
I am having a login problem. The problem is that squirrel mail never takes
my login credentials on the first try.
I go to the login page, type in my credentials, and then get the error
"Unknown user or password incorrect, go to the login page
You need vlogin. The newest version isn't released yet, but is attached
to this email. After setting it up correctly, you only need to log in
using the username - without any domain information.

I have trouble logging in with [EMAIL PROTECTED]
it only works with domain-user.
And the email address of a user is [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I add a user by running:
# vadduser username
I use courier-imap, qmail and vmailmgr on FreeBSD 4.7
and squirrelmail 1.2.10
What is this??
