Someone at Diamondhead showed me a simple and apparently effective alternative
to Kevin O'Connor's thoroughly engineered solution. The fellow says it works
well, and while I doubt it works quite as well as Kevin's, it looked to me like
it should help a lot, and it was SIMPLE.

One other idea for Trot Fox or others.
If you order the screen material, consider ordering a larger sheet of both
screen sizes to help other club members get their screen quickly by simply
driving to your home and snipping off a piece. Of course you can charge them
for the small piece so you loose
Well Trot Fox,
You could get copper screen or aluminum screen from a craft store and try
the idea out knowing that what you make now now now will burn off soon, but
not before you get to test it out.
Another advantage, just like the SitG article claimed, the exhaust is cooler
and steam plume is be
Holy cow! Ok, has anyone done this to a Ruby yet, or will I have to be the
first? I really want to do it but have yet to get any SS mesh.
Also, anyone know where this is readily available from? I know I can get
it from SSSM but I have this thing about being able to bring stuff home
_now_.
The current issue of Steam in the Garden has a wonderful article on a
"Denver" loco created by the Denver Garden Railway Society. A kit for the
Denver locos chain drive for $58.00 is available through Sulphur Springs

John,
A source for sprockets and chain is Stock Drive Parts. URL is
www.sdp-si.com. The original BAGRS Project used the 0.156" pitch brass
ladder chain and brass sprockets. Steel chain and sprockets are available
too, but I have no experience with them.
The BAGRS project used a 7-tooth / 24-toot
Hi All
I am trying to build an O gauge live steam engine for a friend. Kind of like
the Project Locomotive. Giving up on the Dickins.I have a question on
the sprockets and chain set up used on the Project Loco. I can turn wheels,
make bearings etc and a little oscillating engine as well
Thanks, Richard, for the wonderful view of Japanese live steam. Makes me want to go to
Japan. Beautiful photos ! Thanks for sharing your experience with Japan.

If Aster operates like the camera companies in Japan...the best deals are in
South America. Cameras cost more in Japan than the USA and least in South
America. Perhaps the best deal would be to contact some live steam clubs in
Japan and ask for help locating deals. There are a number of Japaneese
Dear Friends,
I am going to Tokyo and Kyoto for a short trip and
I wondered if Japan is a good place for Aster deals.
I suppose I should email Aster if they have a
representative in Tokyo but I wondered if any of you
have some knowledge of good model RR's shops in Tokyo
or Kyoto (carrying As

>SNIP< Watch a engine while going through a #4 or #6 and you
will see it do three distinct bumps as the drivers encounter the three
straight sections. It's less noticeable on #8, 10's because the
sections are much longer. But they are still there. (
Mike: Thank you.
To all: Mike's photo documents my twelve-year-old pushing the fence away
from the track in order to allow clearance for Mike's 7/8th's Project Loco.
