I think it will need a Backshop valve plus the radiant burner to come out
right. The gas feed is beyond touchy.

I really don't know the construction material of your tender or what kind of
access you have for repairs. If I had a leak in a brass tender that I could
reach with either a soldering iron or a resistance soldering unit, that's
the way I'd go. You could do it quick without burning off the paint.

Once you get it firing OK, it really is worth converting to a radiant
burner.
Fire is quiet, fuel tank lasts much longer.

I use Pacer ZAP-A-DAP-A-GOO Silly name but it does work very well, I
describe it as a solvent based thick bodied sealant. I use it in my model
boats and seems to stick to everthing. Available in most hobby shops. Not
as nasty as Silicone sealant. Dries semi flexible. Applies best with a

Sounds like a clogged or dirty jet. Blow it out with air pressure if you
can. Seal the threads at the jet with teflon pipe dope.
Finally starting to like gas firing a bit more than before.

Speaking of falling apart at steamup . . . I built a few Piko kits using the
manufacturer's cement . . . in Oregon wet the building walls simply fell to
the ground in one month! I guess the manufacturer's glue should say "for
dry temperature controlled layouts only". I have used hot melt glue . .
Thanks.
Took smokebox cover off. It lit a few times that way. Then the jet seemed
to not be putting out it's raw gas roar, so I disassembled it and cleaned
it. Will go back and try the stack lighting next time.

How do you light the fire on a gas Aster Climax??? The front doesn't open,
the burner doesn't pull out. There is a big hole in the side of the burner,

fire out of the butane lighter, bu
