sitting a few weeks. This is due to the
compression set property of the material used. You have to pick a
material with a high compression set that is listed as steam
compatible. Here is a website that might help shed some additional

distilled water removes everything, but if it is made in copper
distilling equipment, the water picks up copper ions (heavy metal) as it
condenses. Copper is deadly to corals, but I don't think it would have any
affect on the insides of our steamers.

I used to be forman in a pipe fabrication shop, and this same method was
used for bending pipe in the 2" to 6" diameter range. We used a vibratory
system to pack the sand in the pipe before heating and bending on a hydralic
bending machine.

We use the ss screens to extrude elastomer preforms (rubber, I think the
smallest is 100 mesh, but I'll check. I also used to use fine mesh
brass for sifting fireworks compositions many years ago, and I
understand it's still available from pyyrotechnique supply houses.

Susan,
I'm sure they'd let you submit a picture if you can't be there in person.
Actually, I'm sure there are a few on the list who would like to see you
send that picture to them as well 8^) (hint, hint, hint)
