Hi Chuck, you might want to try safety wire which is stainless and comes
in several gauges. I bought a spool years ago from Brookstone however
McMaster-Carr or some other outfit should carry. This is the wire I used to
use securing drilled nuts and bolts on engines..Earle

Can't say whether it's annealed or not. It is soft enough to be quite
malleable but is very strong in tension and of course resists corrosion.
I've really tied it up in knots wiring bolts and it puts up with a lot
before finally breaking. Makes a good hose clamp as wellEarle

Thanks for the response! Your setup would be great for my Forney as I could
mount a charging plug under the bunker and avoid having to remove it to swap
batteries (on the Forney you must unscrew the bunker mounting screws and
carefully remove it to avoid scratching the paint!). Thanks!
Hi Earle
The rechargable batteries you refer to-are these NiCad or Metal
Hydride?Earle

batteries don't
last very long. After several hours they drop off, especially in cold
weather. Seems like the Servo Saver may just pay for itself after on running
season on batteries alone!.Earle

be inclined to believe that your just not getting enough heat to the
boiler, either from a clogged jet or as has been suggested low gas tank
pressure especially if you are using straight Butane (heck-I don't event
think that pure Butane will even work below 45 degreesF).
Just my $.02 worth.Earle
I also have SVRR track on my railway. We have the critters here but so far
none have been interested in munching on the track or ties.Earle Jones

pressure gauge in the cab so I can run at night.
I chose 6-volt since that is waht my radio battery pack produces. I wired
them in parellel and they turn on amytime the radio switch is on. Very
little drain on the battery in use and I never leave the radio on.Earle
Thanks for the info Jim!

OK fo the Two Foot Foamers: What type of coaches did SRRL use? Did
they
use a Combine type of coach? ( a type that I'd dearly like to acquire)
Also as I'm building a generic caboose at the moment to go behind the next
loco that arrives
What book are you referring to? I have Ride the Sandy River which contains
a good bit of information but would like a reference showing the actual car
plans if one is available...Earle

Of course I'd follow up with light oil for the bearings and bushes since

Hi Pete, It is I, Earle.
Underneath the front of the Forney what they have done is attach the
frame with bogies, cylinders, etc. to the bottom of the boiler with a pivot
about 2/3 the way back. The valve gear runs on twin eccentrics inside the
frame and there is a reversing piston setup
Thanks! Two questions:
1-Are you going to use the Kadee #831 for the front also?
2-Did you mount the rear coupler to the tender truck or the tender body?
Thanks! .Earle
