I usually run with a 20 freight car train. I too use methanol. It takes about 8~10 minutes from light to safeties blowing. I whistle off when I see a "3" on the gauge. (I do have a Bangham two chime whistle. Hee Hee) I usually have 3/4 glass of water when I start and leave the bypass open. Af

Clark, how many cars are you pulling? I get 50 to 60 min. pulling 30 cars with ss wicks. This is also using methanol, not denatured alcohol. I run mostly with the by-pass closed, as working that hard eats up some water. Jeff

I have all three of my Mikado wick tubes shrouded (with a brass tube that slips inside the Aster wick tube) so that only 1/4 inch of wick is exposed. I get 1+ hour runs with this setup. The beauty of this setup is I can slide the shroud up or down to change the exposed wick length without having
