I realize it's been about a month since you all started helping
me and I don't think I thanked everyone (I was going back through
some old emails).
Anyway, I got a new safty valve after air running/tuning it until
it ran great on air and my little Ruby took off and runs
fantastic. I was still
Sorry Vance, I forgot to mention that I tested the valve with a gauge as a
check during the mod.
Good advice. :]

Thanks everyone for the replies - Accucraft will be shipping me a
new safty valve on Monday and when it gets here I may try
stretching the spring on the old one. I do have a presure gauge
so what would be a good pressure to stretch the old spring to?

A lot of people have done this and think it's a good thing to do.
ONLY DO THIS IF you have a pressure gauge! Otherwise, you have no idea how much
you've changed the valve, and it's there for safety. Use it (don't abuse it) safely

Gary,
I suspect he's refering to the safety valve. The stock Ruby Safetys tend to
run around 20 PSI but are quite variable. I ended up stretching the spring
on mine to get more power (and then the loco wore out... but the safety
wasn't the only reason for that.)
Brad,
Welcome to the list and
