Royce,
Bingo. The link worked and explained all that was still confusing me. You're
off the hook as far as bringing your boiler holding fixture to the Summer
Steamup.
I do need to remind Geoff, however, not to forget to bring his roll of
unused U.S. folding money so we all can make new gaskets
I should mention that this is Harry's design, not mine. But as with all his
advice, it's on the money.

Steve,
Kind of depends upon what diamater tube you expect to hold, in my case
they're 3"x 3" x 1/4" rolled angle cut in
Thanks, Harry. Now I have the general idea. When you say "short slices" and
"heavy" about what approx. dimensions are you referring to?

It's pretty straightforward. Short slices of heavy equal leg steel

Thanks Bill, Bob, Harry, et al, for your input re boiler bushing thread
protection. Will report the results when I actually solder the boiler (which
doesn't look like it'll happen before the Summer Steamup - darn !).

This would not be a good idea. First of all the plugs shouldn't be a
galling fit in the bushings so there should be no question of seizing, even
with all the heating going on. The problem with an an
The ones you can get to easily will never cause a problem, the ones that are
tough to get to will be the ones that will have the "fishy" threads. Some

plug works.

When possible, I don't thread them in advance. I drill an undersized pilot
hole, do the soldering, then drill and tap them after they are installed.
Exception to this is if there will be great difficulties reaching them.
