I "wash" the castings in white vinegar to remove oils
and any releases etc. Then wash them in hot water as
a rinse. If I am in a hurry and especially if the
parts are going to be in used in an area that will not
see a lot of handling or rough treatment, I air dry
and then spray paint with the us

I just finished gathering a set of whitemetal castings (various Roundhouse
bogies mostly) and was wondering what the prefered method of painting is
for these. I have no airbrush (and hence no experience with them) but can
hold my own with a rattle-can.
