The patch below was submitted to be applied to the 3.12-stable tree.
I fail to see how this patch meets the stable kernel rules as found at
Documentation/stable_kernel_rules.txt.

I marked it stable to get better coverage of stable queue testing
across hardware. I have since switched the bbb to local rootfs (eMMC),
so I don't need ethernet working on it for nfsroot. So it can be
dropped.
