HUNGER STRIKE

They want to be transferred to the Hague

Some twenty Serb prisoners in the Croat prison in the town of Osijek are still on the hunger strike.

Thus they try to let know the international community about the behavior of the Croat legislation ,

Which imprisoned some other 106 Serbs in some doubtful trials. This is what had been told in the

central office of the “Veritas” NGO in Belgrade.

During five last years Serbs went on the hunger strike also in Split, Lepoglava, Kerestinac and some other

state prisons. Convinced of their innocence, those prisoners wrote several times to the ICTY in the Hague

asking to be judged there. All answers coming from the Hague indicated that there were no elements of war

crimes in their acts of accusations. Meanwhile the Croat justice do not consider the Hague answers as adequate,

and moreover refuses to revise each case.  Among those on the hunger strike are seven Serbs which are indicted for

war crimes last year , and all of them are ready to continue their hunger strike till the end..

N.B. It is hard to believe that the international community which presses Yugoslavia to extrude certain war criminals,

has nothing to do with those who suffer injustice. Is the justice only there to accuse and judge, or also to spare those

who were wrongly indicted, and to protect the innocent.  Are there also doble standards based on the racial affinities

           or national interests?
