If you know how to get a backtrace of the crash it would useful to
post it but don't worry if you don't. (install libglib2.0.0-dbg, gdb
-p , continue, start and close
calculate, bt)

it looks like the shell is crashing. I'm seeing something similar when
closing activities (see the other thread), I suspect it's probably the
same issue.
It feels like a glib/pygobject bug in Ubuntu 12.10, but I'll
investigate and see if I can figure out what is going on exactly.
