To all those who expressed interest in my sundial calendar project of a few months ago, I have to inform you that I've decided not to go ahead with it. It has turned out to be too difficult for me to gather enough material to complete the project in the way I had envisaged. Thanks to everyone

Well, all sundials (except rare focusing dials) cast a shadow whose blurred edge is 2 minutes of time wide, corresponding to the 2 minute (of time) width of the sun. This effect is just more noticable in large dials, but does not enhace or lessen their accuracy. -Bill Gottesman, Burlington,
