hi! perhaps the reference to new style is referring to the change of calendar from Julian to Gregorian in 1752 when the Gregorian dates were known asNew Style. As 11 days were removed the solar declination etc. would be different to agree with the new calendar cheers Colin Davis 52† 14'N

New Style (abbr. N.S.) is a calendrical term meaning that the dates are expressed according to the Gregorian reform, which took effect in England in 1752; the opposite is Old Style (abbr. O.S.). Dates in the 17c-19c are rather often given in both (e.g., Oct. 25/12 ) to make them completely
