Supposedly, a sundial of this type was used by Napoleon... A 17th-century sterling silver compass and hand sundial associated to both Napoleon Bonaparte and Louis XIV was sold by Butterfield & Butterfield of San Francisco on February 23 for $65,750 with buyer's premium.
