Hi folks,

Did anyone else spot the sundial in the (British) TV advert for the 2001 Census?

It is the vertical decliner at Aldeburgh, Suffolk, BSS Serial No 0665.  It is on the end of the Old Moot Hall, under some tremendous chimneys.  The building is now (thanks to coastal erosion), right on the foreshore.  The dial dates from 1650 and is a very smart black and white, with a gilded swan-neck pediment.

You have to be quick (or set your video recorders!) as it is only on-screen for a couple of seconds!

Happy dialling,

John
