Dear Shadow casters,

Thank you to the 4-5 people who responded to my little
message/question/gripe about the use of the word "plekhnaton" - at least it
seems to prove that I was not totally mistaken in my curiosity about it.
Had 100+ people responded along the lines of "haven't you met that one
before" or "take a look at....", I would now be about to 'pig-out' on
humble pie!

For those who quoted from the 'Wikipedidia (never heard of it before -
sounds like an encyclopedia written on a Hawaiian beach.....but maybe I'd
better not get into the oringin of THAT word!!), it appears, from memory,
to be EXACTLY what Bill Nye used, though I have not compared one with the
other. I don't have a problem with a contrived word (language is full of
them, and there are probably gnomonic examples - maybe "bifilar" for one),
and if it is derived f! rom an Egyptian word for sun or sun God (I quite
liked this possible connection), then fine, but I think we should know. If
it has no real origin, and no real meaning, I'm not sure we should be
pushing or endorsing any use of it. Any further thoughts or startling
discoveries in old mansuscripts which shed light (?shadows) on its origin,
would be welcomed.

Many thanks
