Hi Guys, Actually, the commercial thing has been taken far more literally on the list than I perceive it. The assumption has been made that the commercial announcements would be directed at the list members. I agree with Tony's comment that you can't sell sundials to sundial makers because they are too busy thinking of or making their own dials. I would never try to or expect anybody on that list to buy what I am announcing...I would be simply displaying the end result of my labors and their gracious help with the details. And if I was the insecure protective type I might even call it defensive publishing...
I am interested in announcements by the list members of the completion of their dial concepts. Some may be for sale, some may not, but that does not matter to me...I want to see the theoretical stuff discussed on the list when it comes out of the end of the idea pipeline. I have seen several discussions since I have been on the list that get my interest but then quite often little is heard/seen after that. Perhaps I have not made enough personal contacts...maybe all of these dials have been exchanged off-list...or maybe a fair share get shelved or filed or disappear back into the ether from which they came. I respect the wishes of the list owner, and so I wonder about whether I will be announcing much of anything when I finish a dial concept...because I do not have the time to work on one-off designs all of my sundials are conceived to be somewhat commercial. But then again, the temptation is great and the intention is honorable... I am glad that I have seen some of your all's work...do notify me if you make anything special OK?
