how to upgrade 2008.8 kernel

the opkg upgrade but nothing gets upgraded. so, i'm wondering how to upgrade my kernel. further, i wonder when the opkg feeds for 2008.8 might be setup such that opkg upgrade will keep my phone up to date. thanks, -- Peter Abplanalp ___ sup
