Mine does this too when I first plug it it. I have to plug, unplug then
plug it back it for it to recognize the power supply. Only then do I get
the red LED.

Hi All,
I've installed a few aps, but I don't see them in my home screen. Xterm
was one of them. Any ideas on how to get it to show up?
thx

(I looked through the mailing list, saw a question about this, but
didn't see a solution, so forgive me if this has been resolved).
I like qtopia's keyboard, but ONLY for text messaging. I can use that
one w/ my fingers, which makes sending texts, while driving, easy. I
cannot use the illume keyboard with my thumbs.
Ultimately, I would like qtopia's to show up ONLY when sending a
message, and illume to show up every where e

Hi all,
I can't get TangoGPS to find my GPS when using 2008.8. Instead of all
the useful information at the bottom, it shows 'No GPS found'.
Locations works so I know my GPS unit is okay. And I made sure I turned
the GPS 'On' in the settings menu.
What am I missing here?

Hi Tony,
How do I fix that? I've redownloaded the image from the site and it's
still saying name="RAM 0x3200"
On the Freerunner, during the upload it says:
Device_Configured 1
Starting DFU Download to RAM (0x3200)
It's still failing on the upload. This is with my linux host machine.

Hi Gang,
I'm trying to reflash my phone. It was already at 2008.8 release (8/8/8
build) and I'm having problems reflashing it to this build. I run:
./dfu-util a rootfs -R -D ./builds/200808-8/Om2008.8.rootfs.jffs2
and I get:
Opening USB Device 0x:0x...
Claiming USB DFU Runtime Interface..

I can't get my FR to connect to my wireless network at home. I have in
my wpa_supplicant.conf:
# WEP:
network={
ssid="myssid"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=NONE
wep_tx_keyidx=0
wep_key0=mykey
priority=100
and I added to my /etc/network/interfaces:

Hey Bob,
When I first installed the matchbox keyboard, I had to go find the
updated libfreetype6 on the web. If you google it you should be able to
find it for our phone with no problem. You'll have to install it
manually, but that would be
opkg install force-update libfreetype6 (i think that's
I keep losing sound on my FR after a few days. This effects the ringing
and the normal system sounds. I can still hear a phone call conversation
though. When I flash to a new build, the sound comes back and works for
a few days, then stops working.
i've checked my alsamixer and the headphone an
Hi Able,
You'll not only need to be able to USB into the FR, but the device will
need an internet connection. As arne said, please elaborate on the
problem and we'll help out!

I could not.
I enabled ESSID broadcast on my router and that seemed to fix the problem.
I now run:
ifconfig eth0
iwconfig eth0 essid any
iwconfig eth0 key "passkey"
iwconfig eth0 essid "my essid"
ifup eth0
udhcpc eth0
this gets me on my network.
thx

It appears that the batteries that came w/ the Freerunner are Lithium.
These are much better at not developing a memory than the Nickle based
batteries.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you probably don't have to worry
about charging while developing.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Here's the output, it looks like the
whole thing is failing. This is after I can successfully connect to my
WAN. Maybe something's not working w/ my internet connection on the FR.

I'm trying to update the repositories, but when I run it I keep getting
signature check failed.
Am I missing something? It seems like it's downloading the files okay,
but I can't get it to update the listings. Cooincidently, I can't
install the browser, or any of the applications cause they're n
give any errors when you run it.

I've been unable to SSH into my phone. I did:
ifconfig usb0 192.168.1.200 netmask 255.255.255.0
but when I do:
ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]
it can't find the host. i've tried disabling the firewall; no dice.
