And what distribution have you installed? Is it stock OM2007 that came
with FreeRunner? I feel confused...

It sounds like a network issue. I would try pinging google.com. If this
failes then ensure the nameserver is correct
*echo nameserver* xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx /etc/resolv.conf
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of your router.

Yeah, I have 2008.8.
I was using the openDNS nameservers last night and thought I pinged
google just fine. It was late and can't remember now. I am trying to
connect to the FR on my work computer now and it's not going so well.
I can't open the settings app like I mentioned in my initial post,
If I upgraded to 2009 would all my problems go away?
Not all but most of them. And some additional will appear ;)
If you are going to install OM2009t5, keep in mind that most likely you
will have to modify/replace *state files to be able to use FR as a
phone. Look at today('s?) posts on community
I recommend using SHR's unstable image, the July 3rd image, as an everyday
phone. They just came out with a new build today which I have not yet
tested. om2009, though pretty reliable, is lacking in terms of other
software you can install to make a nice smart phone.

there is one feature om2009
There a lot of nice features that I hope will be introduced to SHR, e.g.
contact names in text messages, etc. However, I am very happy that SHR is
stable and usable.
Does anyone know what it'll take to be able to send receive attachments?

I think I will try out SHR. It looks like
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/SHR
will help me with SHR specific stuff but I first need to learn how to
flash, which
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Flashing_the_Neo_FreeRunner
should be a good guide for that.
Should I flash everything ... bootloader,
Bill,
If this is totally new to you first update the GSM firmware
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/GSM/Flashing#uSD-card_Image_.28GTA02_only.29
Then Update Qi
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Qi#Installation
then you just need to flash a rootfs and a kernel image from
I just opened my FreeRunner. I followed the getting started wiki page
but I am still having some trouble.
My date code is: 20081104
And hadware info is:
Hardware: GTA02
Revision: 0360
When I tap the Setting app the Loading message appears and then goes
away and nothing happens.
