I am running pfsense beta2 on vmware server beta and I am trying to use a single bridged nic to run the firewall. I have a trunk port coming from the switch, and I have set it up nicely ( monowall in the same configuration runs without problems).
On my w2k server, there are two nics, one is a rhine ii ( the server itself, no vlan), and a EtherLink XL "dedicated" to the vmware server and where the trunk is terminated (3 vlans, LAN, DMZ and EXT). If I run pfsense, I am able to ping its lan address, but when I try to connect to the gui using the browser, I got the username/password prompt. Once I enter the default, on the w2k server I got a ballon msg saying that 3Com nic cable is unplugged several times. The gui never shows up. I am using the image from http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=VMWareESXandServerEdition that uses e1000 as emulated nic, the amd ones are not vlan capable in pfsense(why?) Any ideas or suggestion? I would like to have a router/firewall in my virtual environment that runs on a single nic using vlans. TIA, Giuseppe Marullo PS: No I can't use ESX...yet --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
