One of our customer is using Pidgin messenger and has complained it gets
disconnected frequently, but at the same time Internet connection works fine
Bandwidth used is 1Mbps and 7 users are their in his network

Last Friday I installed Pidgin on my WindowsXP system so I could chat with one
of my clients. His company uses SameTime, and someone pointed out that Pidgin
supports this protocol. I've even managed to send my contact a test message -
and received a response, but the process has been PAINFUL!

What IM protocol are you attempting to login with? What is the error
message you receive?
Did you change or forget your password? Likely you'll need to go to
the website for whoever provides the IM service and reset it.
