I use Vista and Periodically I reformat and reinstall every thing. This time
every thing is fine except your new version of Pidgin 2.5.5 want connect
until I restart and sometimes I have to restart 2 or 3 times. Is the older
version still available because I never had any problem with it
For some reason I cannot get any file transfers through aim.
Another quirk is that Pidgin sometimes randomly turns off accounts and
refuses to auto reconnect.

Using a plugin wouldn't be the problem, writing it first is. I was
hoping that someone else might have already done it, but from the
comments so far I'm pretty sure nobody did :-). I don't need it badly
enough to start with the coding, so I'll stick to the showmyip.com
solution for now.
