How do I change the default spell check dictionary in Pidgin 2.1.10 for Windows?

I can change it each time I open an IM window, but I've found no way to change the default. No matter how many times I switch it to en_US from en_GB, it's always back on en_GB next time I start the program. I even reordered the dictionary files in dictionary.lst, but to no avail.
