There is an unofficial plugin that allows SMS in Pidgin via Google's
services. Note, Google intentionally restricts this feature to official
Google clients, the author of this plugin circumvents that and I'm not sure
of the repercussions:

At the moment I connect to pidgin me open a lot of small windows with "Unknown
Error (500)".How I can fix it?
Cuando me conecto al pidgin se me abren un montón de ventanas pequeñas con el
