If you're using Pidgin 2.10.8 then this is due to a bug. We'll
hopefully release 2.10.9 with a fix sometime in the next four days.

FYI there is a bug in Pidgin 2.10.8 that breaks logging into Facebook
using XMPP. We'll hopefully release 2.10.9 with a fix sometime in the
next four days.
