pidgin does not support xmpp visibility settings as there isn't (yet) a
good standard for supporting that.
As to whether you can apply invisibilty settings to groups of people at
once that depends entirely on the capabilities of the protocols involved.
I believe some support that and some do not (

I've d/loaded the latest version of Pidgin a few days ago (Ive used older
version before)..

When i'm invisible, i can right-click on a user/person, & allow them to see
me.
However, I can't do this with XMPP accounts.
(Or is there another way ?)

when using pidgin, (one of the recent versions..)
I can mark a yahoo person as showing on my screen, even if they are
logged off (I do not show other logged off people)..
now, this setting "sticks" & remains for that particular person - no
matter how many times I log off & log back in,
