no email notification

I am using version 2.47 of Seamonkey and Win 7 Pro and have losty ability to see the email notification on the right side of the task bar. In the preferences the box for "see email notification" is checked, it used to be there but don't know exactly when it vanished. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1;
