I've just set up a new Hotmail account and I created the new account in
SeaMonkey but all I get is authentication failed. Server is
pop3.live.com, port is 995, password is right. What's the problem? TIA

What's the problem?
The problem is that in the Account Settings, in Server Settings, in the
User Name textbox, the username _must_ include @hotmail.com. And then,
it works.

I was surprised to find that it didn't notify me of a new version and
(optionally) get it and install it for me. I was further surprised to
find that there was no such option anywhere. Am I right about that or is
it hidden somewhere? If not, will we see such a feature at any point?

The hacks needed to install it are very mature and easy to
apply. I'd recommend upgrading, even though it's not officially supported.
The one I like is half-booting to a command line, telling the machine
its speed is 867 and then continuing the boot into OSX. Then when the
installer asks, the
when you install SM, it will start using the Mozilla Suite profile. You can't
get any more simpler than that.
