I ran a plugin check (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/) and
saw the message,
Missing JAVA?
For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of
Java. Please upgrade to the latest version.
So I clicked on the "upgrade to the latest version", downloade
I saw some information about Java working, so I went to Tools -> Add-ons
Manager and checked to see if I had Java running. I did not, so I
clicked on the link "Check to see if your plugins are up to date"
I did that and a new tab opened up which took me to
