Thank you Frank. I'm aware the Lightning is a packed xpi in current
releases, I've read the Release Notes - several times :-)
Apologies that my messages have not been clear enough. What I'm
attempting to say is; that on a new, empty, clean profile Lightning
is there. Confirming what you have said.

drag and drop the xpi over the main window or just use File->Open File
and pick {e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}.xpi from
distribution\extensions in your SeaMonkey installation directory.
This last suggestion wasn't in the release notes and fixed the problem.
