The engine being cold was my point. If you have a thermostat it keeps the
water from circulating until it reaches temp of about 190 degrees F. If no
Thermostat then the engine stays cold longer because cold water is being

I agree those 5.7's were a junky engine though a few people are still big
fans - claiming the rest of the world doesn't know how to take care of
them.. Good boat anchors I say. No the 6.5 is a pretty beefy engine if you
get it with the Turbo pistons..
