Craig,
Biodiesel can be subject to algae buildup. But it also has a considerably long
shelf life when treated properly. I haven't had the occasion or need to utilize
a biocide as of yet. But about the time we start storing fuel in a 100 bbl tank
you can bet the problem will begin to crop up.
Ken,
We're preparing to go up on the same type of recovery/conversion scenario as
what you're doing here...more or less.
We've got ~110 gallons of recoverable FFAs and a few gallons already recovered,
which we're going to submit to the 2 stage acid/base method in the next few
days.

Todd,
It sounds like you're saying that veg oil is not subject to algae
buildup? If not - that is, if it is subject to algae buildup, would
something like Racor's Fuel Biocide work to prevent it?
Thanks,
Craig

Terribly sorry, but the attachments are stripped off in AOL.
I'll try Explorer, to see if it works any better, but now I've opened it up
in AOL, I may not be able to retrieve in Explorer.
I'll let you know when I get there.

Shelf life of veg oil is limitted by rancidity. Rancidity is not a limitation
of biodiesel, as infernal combustion is not affected by "taste."
With appropriate steps taken to prevent algal buildup, biodiesel should have a
tank life of years, depending upon the feedstock and air volume in the st
