I run two 300Ds on straight heated fat. Have clocked up over 30,000km
without any problems, they love it.

I recall a number of listers were asking about diesel bikes some time
back. Found this

David,
I don't see a problem here. I don't want to mix water with diesel I
just want to introduce a little water vapour into the combustion
process. I can't see any difference between petrol and diesel powered
engines here except that the diesel does not have the manifold vacuum
to create the
I am working on installing a mister in my diesel Mercedes running on
straight fat. Just looking for a suitable little pressure pump.

Anyone getting these messages? I keep sending them and they never
turn up on the list.

David,
A very sensible approach. If we use the combined experience of the
list users to complie some real facts and figures then a lot of the
questions being asked about their performance under various vehicle
and environmental conditions will be answered.

Heated centrifuge?? Tell us more. I filter mine in 20 litre batchs
through a 5 micron filter bag and since I use 200 litres a week it
becomes quite labour intensive and a bit messy. Cheap enough at $6
per bag per 200 litres but there has to be a better way. I run 2
vehicles and a 2kva genset
Have you heard of Ralph Sarich's orbital engine company. They
currently make a 2 stroke using a whole heap of ceramic parts and
lots of hi-tech injection, timing control etc. I'm no expert but it
sounds like this is what you're aiming at. A lot of their stuff was
bought out by the big boys.

Not direct injection but perhaps water introduction. Adding a water
(or ethanol mix) mist to the air intake. Given the lack of manifold
vacuum, I imagine a small pressure pump would be required, or perhaps
pick off some pressure from the exhaust (mmm, sounds too complicated

With all the renewed interest in water injection systems I thought I
had better try this myself...but the link on the WebConx page no
longer works. Has anyone got this info? Has anyone tried this on
diesel engines, maybe with a pump to provide pressure for injection?
Andrew.
I have looked into these TP filters here in Australia (very
expensive). The supplier here could not answer my questions. Will
these filter straight WVO. Most of my "WVO" is actually beef fat. I
heat it to 50C and gravity feed it through 5 micron filter bags which
is slow and labourious. One fi
What about using a glow plug or two? They are already designed to run
in hot, oily hostile environments.

Thats all very well if you have liquid oil. But all the used oil and
fat I get is solid. The food outlets buy the stuff new packed in
cardboard boxes. So, while your radiator may be a good idea, it is
useless for heating solids. Unless you know of a pump that can move
solidified fat. I believe
How about running the fuel line alongside the exhaust pipe. Just
strap the metal fuel line to the exhaust pipe. It would be simpler
and heat up a lot faster.

You may have trouble getting the WVO to drain anywhere as it goes
hard when at room temperature. Your 500 gal tank will be solid. You
would probably need a to set up some sort of heater in the larger
tank to melt enough WVO at the outlet to get a flow. Plenty of waste
heat in the exhaust. I ru
Anneal the copper tube by heating it (red hot) and quenching it
(cooling it in water as quickly as possible). The tube will become
very soft, hardening the more it is flexed.
Using this method I was able to make up a heater for my filter by
forming a 1/2" copper coil (actually 2 x 1/2" coils co
Last year I sold a controller and used motor to a someone doing a
conversion on an old VW. I can forward his email if you like.

I'm not into all the statistical "facts & figures" but I do have a
good working knowledge of both EVs and biodiesel powered cars. I have
one of each. I think that it is short-sighted to expect one straight
answer to all our vehicle needs. There is no one ideal solution. Both

I have tried some experiments like this but without such good
results. My mix separated when I put it on the bottom shelf of
the fridge. I thought it too risky to use it in my main fuel tank.
Maybe I was using a different WVO. I don't always know what I am
getting.
