Hi all,
I have a couple of quick questions. I have looked at the J2F site
and can't find an exact answer to what I am looking for so I am
turning to you all for some help or suggestions.
I have a source of waste oil that will provide about 20 gal of oil
per week. They are using soy oil and the virgin form of it produces
very good fuel. They say that they change the oil once per week.
The problem is that the used oil titrates at 12 to 15 mL. It doesn't
matter what I do to it. I have just taken a sample and tested it, I
have dewatered it and filtered it. It doesn't seem to matter it all
titrates high. The color of the oil does not seem to be an
indication as to the condition since some of it is light in color
kind of has a reddish tint to it and some of it is very thick and
black. But it all titrates the same. I am using the better
titration method form J2F site by using 2 mL of oil and 20mL of iso
alcohol. I have mixed a stock solution of NaOH by mixing 5g to 500mL
of distilled water then diluting 5mL of this in 45mL of distilled water.
I can't figure out what is going on and would appreciate any advice.
The oil samples that I have been getting are out of an old nasty
looking oil dumpster and I am beginning to think that may be the
problem.
Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks
Brian Schneider
